My name is Sam, aka Southpaws (my gamertag that has been with me for over a decade). I am an adventurous entrepreneur, a passionate gamer, a great husband (approval pending from my wife), an amazing friend, and now an aspiring inspirational blogger.
I grew up as a gamer. My gaming adventures took me anywhere from the prehistoric ages to futuristic space battles. And I loved solving thousands and thousands of challenges and puzzles. This helped shape my mind into a creative problem-solving machine. In the later stages of my education, I became aware of how I use my past experiences as a gamer to frame new concepts and real-world problems in different angles so that I can come up with solutions quicker. So I just kept gaming and still did decent in university. Not too shabby, I would say!
Growing up in an age that looks at gaming as a waste of time and a detriment to success, I have learned to embrace this uniqueness in me and share my passion as a gamer even in professional settings. And this part of my history is the inspiration behind my blog.
The name of this blog comes from my gamertag, Southpaws. And no, I am not a lefty and had no idea what southpaw even means when I created my World of Warcraft character with this name about 10 years ago. By the time I realized the meaning behind the word, I was already too attached to the name and character to change it, so I stuck with the name for all my future games going forward.
Fast forward to today, the name Southpaws brings extra meaning to the blog. Having part of Southpaws in the blog name is a celebration of the uniqueness of my journey. Much like the left-handed baseball players that the term southpaw originally referred to, their differences from regular right-handed players actually created advantages for them when utilized properly. I think this metaphor is a perfect capture of what I want my blog to be about.
I want to share with you my unique personal growth experience in this Game of Life. I want to share with you how I draw motivations and inspirations from all areas of life. My hope is that this will bring you the inspiration to embrace your own uniqueness and create the most meaningful lives for you.
